LIAM O'BRIEN

PERSONAL TRAINER

I have been a Personal Trainer now for nearly 14 years and have trained hundreds of people of all ages and with wildly differing goals and fitness levels. Nowadays I am based at Manor House Lindley, Huddersfield where I have a private gym and studio.

 

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Personal Trainer (European Institute of Fitness)

  • Level 2 Gym Instructor (European Institute of Fitness)

  • Extreme Kettlebell Instructor (Extreme Kettlebells)

  • IKFF Kettlebell Instructor (International Kettlebell and Fitness Federation)

  • Mike Mahler Strength Coach

  • Olympic Weightlifting Coach (British Weightlifting)

  • I've attended multiple CPD courses over the years to keep up to date with current developments and best practice.

I'm also the owner and head coach of Yorkshire Bootcamps with bootcamps in Lindley and Holmfirth.

 

In my personal fitness life I have completed several marathons including The Sahara Desert Marathon and the Limassol Cyprus Marathon twice. I have competed at both under 90kg and under 103kg in strongman competition and coached Yorkshire Kettlebell Club. Yorkshire Kettlebell Club was a competition kettlebell sport (or Girevoy Sport) team that went on to compete around the UK and into Europe. I myself was coached by Eddie Sheehan of the GSU, Gregor Sobocan of the EGSA in Slovenia and Ivan Denisov, Absolute World Champion and Head Coach of the World Kettlebell Club.

VENUES

We now have 3 venues across Huddersfield, our home venue Yorkshire Kettlebell Club in Huddersfield, our private gym at Manor House Lindley and Holmfirth Civic Hall.

 

 

Yorkshire Kettlebell Club

Yorkshire Kettlebell Club is our new home club, We use the main sports hall for our bootcamps and have a purpose built, private gym and studio for one to one training and small groups. Our custom built studio is fully fitted out with:​

  • Kettlebells, powerbags, slam balls and TRX.

  • Full powerlifting set up including rack, barbells and dumbells.

  • Plyometric boxes, Bosu and battle ropes.

  • Full size boxing set up for individuals and groups.

  • Treadmill, bike and rower.

  • Yorkshire Kettlebell Club has ladies and mens showers and changing rooms.

  • There is a large public car park directly opposite the entrance.

Our sports hall that we'll use for our bootcamps is of course equipped with everything we could possible need with more kettlebells, powerbags, ropes, slam balls etc.

As Yorkshire Kettlebell Club is a private facility, whenever you book a session with me you will have complete use of the gym, its not open to the public so you need never feel self conscious or have to worry about what other people in the gym are doing. 

As we now have changing rooms and showers you are able to train directly before or after work, we're walking distance to the town centre!

 
 
 
HOLMFIRTH CIVIC HALL

 Holmfirth Civic Hall, Huddersfield Rd, Holmfirth HD9 3AS

Holmfirth Civic Hall is the home for our Holmfirth bootcamps. We use the main hall and have much of the same kit as at our Yorkshire Kettlebell Club venue with:

  • Kettlebells, powerbags, slam balls and TRX.

  • Plyometric boxes and battle ropes.

  • There is a large public car park directly opposite the entrance.

 
 
 
MANOR HOUSE LINDLEY

The Manor House is a luxury hotel in Lindley, Huddersfield just down the road from the hospital. We have a private gym and studio there and currently offer personal training for individuals, couples and small groups. As you'd expect, the Manor House is fully equiped with the best in functional training equipment including:

  • Kettlebells, powerbags, slam balls and TRX.

  • Full powerlifting set up including rack, barbells and dumbells.

  • Plyometric boxes, Bosu and battle ropes.

  • Full size boxing set up for individuals and groups.

  • Treadmill, bike and rower.

  • Manor House has its own car park.

GROUP SESSIONS AND CLASSES

 

All of our group sessions are mixed ability and are suitable for all regardless of your current fitness level or experience. All exercises on our group sessions can be changed or amended to take into account differing fitness levels, ability or injury.

TUESDAY 5.30PM

Every Tuesday at 5.30pm sees our functional fitness interval training session. This session will include a combination of kettlebells, TRX, slam balls, plyometric boxes and bodyweight exercise run as a HIIT session. Designed to develop overall strength, flexibility and fitness, this session focuses on total body compound exercise and cores strength that will literally change your life!

THURSDAY 5.30PM

Thursday at 5.30pm is our weekly boxing session at Manor House Lindley. Combinations of classic punches mixed up with short, high intensity core strength and cardio exercise give a true total body workout! Sessions are run using our 4 full size professional punch bags and participants work either individually or in pairs. Why not bring a friend and train together?

SATURDAY 9AM

High intensity circuits with a heavy nod to CrossFit style training and utilising all the toys in the box with battle ropes, kettlebells, TRX, power bags, slam balls, dumbbells, barbells, plyo boxes, resistance bands and more - they'll all be coming out to play at ur Saturday session!
